Hospitals in rural areas may seem smaller than their counterparts in large cities, but they make an enormous impact on the communities they serve. At Warner Hospital, we take pride in providing life-saving care locally. While rural hospitals may not always be equipped for a variety of specialty services, what we provide is essential for the health and well-being of rural communities by instilling peace of mind knowing they have access to high-quality healthcare close to home.
A Champion of Localized Care
When Dr. John Warner arrived in DeWitt County in 1842, he set out to give his community the care he knew they needed. His will instructed after his passing, the funds of his fortune were to be allocated toward the construction of a hospital that would then be donated to the public. Over the years, Warner Hospital has grown to employ more than 150 people, making it one of the major employers of DeWitt County.
Specialized Care in a Comfortable Environment
Rural hospitals like ours are a life-saving force in the community especially when every second counts. Through a large network of doctors, hospitals and other healthcare professionals, our rural providers can leverage the knowledge of their peers and give exceptional care to residents in areas that normally wouldn’t have access to specialized care. Additionally, the rise of telemedicine has opened opportunities for rural patients and doctors to collaborate with big-city specialists. This allows patients to be treated simultaneously by in-person and out-of-town doctors, ensuring you or your loved ones are getting safe, effective care of the highest quality.
While we’re big enough to be connected to a vast wealth of knowledge, we’re also small enough to care about who you are and what you need. Rural providers like us statistically score higher than their big-city counterparts in bedside manner and the experience of care. The staff at Warner Hospital will make you feel like we’re all an extended family because we care more about keeping our community strong than anything else. You can trust the local workers to know your name, ask how your family is doing and offer what you need to make your day easier.
Big-City Services Helping Small Communities
Even though we’re located in a rural area, Warner Hospital boasts a variety of services patients would usually only find in an urban care center. We provide the only 24-hour emergency room in DeWitt County with certified trauma specialists on call 24/7 to help when you need it most. We also offer a range of diagnostic imaging scans, a full laboratory for blood work close to home and a host of in-house specialists who make diagnosis and treatment easier than ever. Or if you just need routine care, come to the walk-in clinic and visit a caring physician today.
Healthcare That Knows Who You Are
Rural hospitals are in the unique position to offer specialized care and still offer same-day appointments where your provider will talk you through test results. We are large enough to bring in a range of specialists and small enough to call you by name and ask how your day went. At Warner Hospital, we’re proud to be a rural hospital that spends every day doing what we can to strengthen our community and improve the well-being of every community member.
