Top Diagnostic Care – Warner Imaging Services

This important, local care provides healthcare professionals with the ability to view internal parts of the body to help diagnose signs of illness or trauma without using invasive, surgical techniques. Imaging can also be used to assess symptoms due to sudden trauma and can even be used to detect types of cancer.

  • Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning – Aka CAT scan, uses X-rays to capture cross sections of body parts to detect fractures, internal bleeding, blood clots, heart disease, and cancers. Patient lies on table that passes through middle of X-ray machine. A contrast dye may be used to enhance clarity.
  • CT Bone Densitometry – Uses low-radiation X-rays to measure bone density using latest technology that is faster and more accurate.
  • General Ultrasound – Aka sonography, uses sound waves to create images of organs, tissues, and other anatomical structures. Used for a variety of medical purposes, including monitoring fetus health/growth, diagnosing soft tissue conditions, and guiding biopsy procedure needles. Doppler ultrasounds show movement within the body (heartbeats, blood flow, and fetal womb movement).
  • Nuclear Medicine – A small, harmless dose of a radioactive substance is used (injected, swallowed, or inhaled), which is detected in the body using a special camera. Radiologist can then see anatomical structures and functions to diagnose conditions, illnesses related to organ function, injuries, infections, and even cancers.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – Uses a large magnet and radio waves to examine organs or anatomical structures to detect injuries and illnesses, including tumors and cancers, soft tissue injuries, joint injuries, spinal or other internal organ injuries. Patient lies on a table that slides into a tunnel-shaped machine.
  • 3D Mammography – Detects breast cancer early by using a series of low-dose X-rays that provide radiologists with a 3D image of the breast tissue, allowing greater detection of abnormalities such as tumors. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month!
  • Digital X-ray – Uses electromagnetic waves to capture anatomical images (on a computer/not film for clearer/faster results). Detects fractures and illnesses such as pneumonia. Detects some cancers by displaying absorbed radiation (calcium in bones absorbs the most radiation, so appears white, while soft tissue absorbs less and appears gray).
